new christmas card sets {added to etsy shop}

I added some christmas letterpress card sets to my etsy shop! I hand-lettered this design based on the scripture verse, Isaiah 9:6.

This set of Christmas cards was hand-printed on my letterpress using silver ink on chipboard. The chipboard was given a dusting of “snow” by spraying white paint lightly onto each. This makes each piece unique.Chip_Staged

This holiday card set was letterpress printed with silver ink on aqua plantable seed paper. Seed_StagedSeed_Close

I hope these fit in your wallet…

I printed some NEW business cards for my studio back in August. I think I may actually keep them for awhile… I still like them almost 2 months later, that must be a new record. As is typical of most creatives, when designing for myself, I am my worst critic.
THE PROCESS: The cards were given a blind woodgrain deboss, followed by “arbor gray” and “curry” ink on each side. They are printed on Crane Lettra Fluorescent 220lb Duplex Cover. So, yes, they are very thick… but you can make room for them, right???

life lately

so i realize this blog has been VERY quiet. if you read my last post, you know that we have been in the midst of moving to Nebraska. on wednesday, we are flying back to Georgia to pack up and move our things to Nebraska. we have been in transition mode the last few months, so once we get our stuff here, we should be able to “settle in”. the above photo is snapshot of our home in Georgia. we will miss the house… but not nearly as much as we will miss the people. i am excited to get my studio in Nebraska all set up. also, i have a NEW local phone number. give me a ring or send an email if you have any design or printing needs. 402.817.4477

That’s right folks! Next month, we are packing up our bags and moving to Nebraska! It’s definitely bittersweet, we have loved our time in Georgia, but we have always wanted to move back to my home (and close to family). It came unexpectedly, but we are now getting really excited for the transition. The hard part will be moving our letterpress 2000 miles across the country, but we will have to make it work!

in the studio: t-shirt design

i designed these t-shirts for my church’s college group retreat. i hand-lettered three words: ‘the’, ‘word’ and ‘flesh’. i used futura and archer for the rest of the type. i added some distress to the design and picked a nice soft alternative apparel tee in chocolate. the design is a bit small on the guys sizes, since i had to size it to fit nicely on the women’s small.  the colors didn’t turn out perfect, but were passable.

NOTE ON THE SHIRTS: i would highly recommend alternative apparel shirts, they are soft and comfortable, but they run EXTREMELY small (especially in ladies sizes).

minted: graduation & moving

i was really bummed out that i missed the minted save the date challenge, especially since i had a lot of rejects from clients that i could have revised and submitted. anyway, i made time to submit a few designs for the latest challenges, graduation and moving announcements. it’s always great paper design practice… take a peek and vote if you would like. thanks!
